Search engine optimization is a process in which your website (preferably as it is designed) is prepared for placement on the web. There are many considerations in optimizing a site for search engine placement.

There has to be a balance between functionality and aesthetics. This is often where many designers fall short and provide more of one than the other or strictly one and not the other.
